The Counselling Process

Unpack. Understand. Rebuild.

Schedule your first session

It all begins by booking your first session. During your initial consultation, you will have an open and honest conversation to understand the areas you may be struggling with. This will give you the opportunity to ask Philip any questions about counselling in general, his background and experience and more to establish if you are a good fit for one another.

Take the journey

Embarking on the therapeutic journey, you will participate in regular sessions with Philip, delving into your thoughts and emotions. Through a collaborative and supportive process, you will gain insight into the challenges you face, while learning to process and express your feelings constructively. Together, you will explore underlying issues and develop strategies for personal growth and emotional resilience, fostering a strong foundation for lasting change.

Content, managed life

As you progress through therapy, you will begin to experience the transformative effects of self-discovery and emotional healing. By applying the skills and coping mechanisms acquired during your sessions, you will be better equipped to navigate life's challenges and cultivate more satisfying relationships. Ultimately, therapy with Philip empowers you to embrace a happier, more fulfilling life, enriched by greater self-awareness and emotional well-being.

In pursuit of providing the most effective support for his clients, Philip has amassed a substantial array of proven, well-established therapies utilised by members of the professional body, the BACP.

Among the frequently employed therapies in his counselling services are:

  • Person-Centred: This approach ensures that Philip offers his clients unconditional, positive regard and empathises deeply with their unique experiences.
  • Existential: By adhering to this therapy, Philip remains fully present with the client’s narrative and refrains from judgment as they navigate life’s challenges.
  • Gestalt: This method allows clients to develop an awareness of their emotions and behaviors in the present moment, fostering a deeper understanding of their needs and potential pathways to fulfillment.
  • Transactional Analysis: This therapy examines the interactions between the Parent, Adult, and Child aspects of an individual.

As an integrative counsellor, Philip thoughtfully and selectively blends therapies to cater to the distinct holistic needs of each client.

To maintain ethical practices and adhere to his professional body’s guidelines, Philip engages in regular supervision, where he discusses clients’ situations without revealing their identity, ensuring confidentiality. Additionally, he operates within the framework of a pre-discussed contract with each client.

By collaborating closely with his clients, Philip strives to guide them towards greater self-understanding and personal growth.
